Blue Visby

Blue Visby is a UK-based company dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in maritime shipping by addressing the inefficiencies of the common practice known as “Sail Fast, Then Wait” (SFTW). This approach involves ships travelling at high speeds to reach ports quickly, only to wait at anchorages for berth availability, leading to unnecessary fuel consumption and emissions.

The company's flagship initiative, the Blue Visby Solution™, is a multilateral platform that optimises the arrival times of groups of vessels heading to the same destination. By coordinating these schedules, ships can reduce speed, thereby lowering fuel use and emissions without compromising delivery timelines. This system is designed to be compatible with existing maritime contracts and requires no new onboard equipment, making it readily implementable within current regulatory frameworks.
